In what was an instant classic to kick off the 2017 high school football season, Daviess County came to Steele Stadium to take on the Owensboro Catholic Aces on a hot August 18th night. Daviess County jumped out to a 26-7 lead over the Aces as Joey Cambron had his break out performance to local high school football fans. Cambron finished the night 21-40 for 370 yards and 5 touchdowns. Marquel Tinesley showed the 270 why he’s figured to be playing major college football by having 7 catches for 149 yards.
Catholic meanwhile would not be shaken as quarterback Will Warren went 23-40 for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns. The player that put the Aces over the top wasn’t star running back Von Williams but senior backup running back Nick Blair who had 6 carries for 97 yards. Cramping became a serious issue for Daviess County as the Panthers had 5 or 6 guys lost at different times in the second half.
Enjoy this instant classic on HRN, and a big shoutout to Vic and Andy Evans from Spectrum TV8 for doing an outstanding job on the broadcast as always.
